Drama is looked upon as being an essential component of life at the Preparatory School. At Christmas, Infant and Junior Plays are performed in the School Hall, with a Year 6 Leavers’ Play in the Summer. The School also performs at the annual Music and Drama Festival at a theatre in Rickmansworth – a major production which also includes the other Foundation Schools.
The School produces 3 drama productions every year.
- The Infants (Reception, year 1 and Year 2) perform a Christmas play in the School Hall;
- The Juniors (Years 3 to 6) put on a drama production at a local theatre during the Easter Term;
- Finally a Year 6 leavers play is performed at the end of the Summer Term.
Pupils also have the opportunity of taking part in Drama Workshops at local theatres and members of the Elocution Class are entered for the local drama festivals and the L.A.M.D.A. examinations. Drama colours are awarded to pupils who have taken part in five or more School productions.
Year 6 pupils from the Preparatory School have recently been awarded Drama Scholarships to a local prestigious Independent School.
