Magical Music at BPS

Posted: 25th November 2021

At Buckingham Prep, Choir is an after school club open to years 3 to 6 boys who enjoy singing with friends and developing their voices. The Christmas is a very important time for us, as the Choir has a special role leading the school in singing at the Carol Service at St Albans church on the last day of Autumn Term. We’ve had a lovely time practicing new pieces such as At The Stable, as well as old favourites like We Wish You A Merry Christmas. Miss Seaman has been holding auditions for the traditional Once In Royal David’s City treble soloist, and the choir have been busy brushing up their latin for Personet Hodie, the carol they will sing alone.

After the Christmas break, the years 5 and 6 Choir boys will turn their attention towards the next exciting performance opportunity – attending the biennial Young Voices massed school choir event at the O2 Centre in mid-January. Dressed in the official colour coordinated Young Voices t-shirts, we will join forces with school choirs from across London to sing uplifting anthems, fun pop medleys and another latin piece, O Fortuna, from the well known choral classic Carmina Burana. The concert will also feature dance routines, a professional lightshow and solos from guest star singers.

So all in all, the Choir have a most exciting couple of months ahead of us!
