A Reflection from Reception

Posted: 8th December 2021

What a wonderful term we have had at BPS.  We have been so busy in Reception and this week thought about all the things that we have enjoyed since starting school in September: learning about ourselves and where we live; reading together, learning to write and do our Maths.  We greatly enjoyed our nature walk where we were able to identify many signs of autumn; and talking about family trips to London and recreating the South Bank using our classroom resources.

This is now the last week of our Autumn term and on Monday we performed our Christmas show with Pre School called ‘Jesus’ Christmas Party’. Together we sang songs, learnt lines and stage directions, dressed up and performed together.  Our teachers were very proud of us.

During the week we joined together with the whole school community to participate in a Christmas house quiz, attend the pantomime in Watford, and enjoy our Christmas lunch and parties.  A very big thank you goes out to our kitchen staff for the exceptionally delicious, nutritious, festive meal.  Everyone wore Christmas jumpers and hats and we had a fantastic, festive time together.

Our term ended in a very special Carol Service at St Alban’s Church, attended by all of the children in Reception – Year 6.  We celebrated the season of Christmas, sang festive songs together and reflected about the year we have had.  We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2022.
