Where do we live?

Posted: 19th October 2020

Pre-School have been really busy learning about themselves and their homes. They have developed their language skills by talking to each other about the different parts of their houses. They explored different materials needed to build a house and used words like ‘strong’ and ‘hard’ to describe them. The children are developing their fine motor skills and pencil grip and this week they drew pictures of both the outside and inside of their houses.

During class discussions the children looked at pictures of unusual houses like an upside-down house and a house shaped like a dog. They discussed what the house might be made of, who might live there and which one they liked the best. They displayed fantastic language skills during this activity. The children were very excited to use ICT software to design their own houses and developed their hand-eye coordination skills in the process by clicking and dragging objects. The children also learned a new song with actions about building a house and enjoyed surprising Miss Felix by performing it for her in their Music lesson.
