Black History Month

Posted: 15th October 2021

Black History has been celebrated by the whole school this month and such a range of learning activities have taken fruition. The children were presented with some thought provoking assemblies and continued their learning about Black History in their lessons.

Year 3 focused on the accomplishments of black women, beginning the week by researching the internet for their inspirational achievements. They continued to build on their research using a range of resources, which led to writing a non-chronological report on three prominent black women. As part of PSHE, they discussed the question of why Black History is restricted to one month and considered how it could be recognised all year round; and wrote a letter to explain their views and appreciation of perseverance.

It has been an insightful month for all of the students and we are certain that their moral compasses are in the right place. We wish everyone a very happy and restful half tern break and a big well done for such a successful first term back.
