Headstone Manor Trip

Posted: 13th October 2023

What an amazing half term we have had in Reception.  We have been so busy settling into school life and learning how to become independent in our self-care, dressing and work.  We have been learning about ourselves and our bodies and loved drawing pictures of skeletons and learning about our senses.

This week we went on our class trip to Headstone Manor in preparation for our work next half term about where we live.  We learnt what life was like in Harrow hundreds of years ago when it was farmland.  We saw how it changed with the arrival of the railways, more people and factories.  We went into the Manor house and saw the incredible local Whitefriars glass and the old cameras made in the now demolished Kodak factory.  We were able to spot the tall chimney that remained.

We went in the museum Granary and made maps of the key features of the Manor with the Kodak chimney.  Everyone enjoyed dressing up in traditional clothes and hats and exploring the old house.  Reception highly recommend a visit to this local history museum!
