A 300-point margin saw Buckingham Prep take first place in this year’s annual Quiz Club heat. The quiz, hosted by Merchant Taylors Preparatory school in Northwood, saw our boys beating Quainton Hall into second place and Merchant Taylors into third place, in a competition that boasted 11 teams representing the top academic schools in the area.
The standard of this year’s quiz was exceptionally high and although Buckingham Prep took the lead from the outset and led through the entire competition, the competing teams were never too far behind and all the teams put in excellent performances.
Ms Bourne, Head of RE and Philosophy at Buckingham Prep and quiz team coach, believes that the performances were not down to chance but to hard work. “Our boys have naturally inquisitive minds and preparing for the quiz is something they enjoy doing. Nonetheless, with the standard of questions being so high, the boys have had to apply themselves to the task.”
Sarah Hollis, Head at Buckingham Prep and Pre-School, attended the event along with a group of Year 6 boys to spectate. She agreed wholeheartedly with Ms Bourne, adding that the boys’ victory stood as testament to them and to the school. Although renowned for our academic successes at Buckingham Prep, we take pride in each and every achievement and pupil, all of whom are part of our successes.
The winning score for Buckingham Prep was 1704 points, with the second place school with a score of 1475. Clear winners all the way.
