Alumni Return to Share Wisdom

Posted: 18th July 2025

Buckingham Preparatory School was delighted to welcome back a group of recent leavers for a special alumni event designed to support our senior pupils as they prepare for the next stage of their educational journey.

Former pupils — now studying at a range of prestigious senior schools including Queen Elizabeth’s Boys’ School in Barnet, Merchant Taylors’ in Northwood, Haberdashers’ Aske’s in Elstree, John Lyon in Harrow, the City of London School, and even Mount Kimberly Academy in New Jersey — returned to speak with boys in Years 5 and 6. Their insights offered valuable, real-world advice about what to expect at secondary school and how to make a smooth, confident transition.

A highlight of the event was a lively panel discussion featuring two of Buckingham Prep’s former Head Boys, Ayaansh and Jayden. They addressed key questions around adapting to new routines, balancing academic work with co-curricular opportunities, and maintaining friendships — all with warmth and honesty that resonated strongly with their younger peers.

Building connections between past and present pupils is an important part of our pastoral approach. Events like this help foster a sense of community that extends far beyond Year 6, while also equipping our older boys with reassurance and inspiration for what lies ahead.

As a well-established boys’ prep school, Buckingham Preparatory School prepares pupils not just academically, but also personally and socially for life beyond the classroom.

If you’re looking for an independent boys’ school in Middlesex or a private prep school in Harrow that builds confidence, character and lasting friendships, we warmly invite you to come and visit. Book a tour here to experience the Buckingham Prep difference for yourself.
