Celebrating European Day of Languages at Buckingham Preparatory School
Buckingham Preparatory School marked European Day of Languages with a week full of cultural exploration, creativity, and fun.
The celebrations began with an engaging assembly led by Madame Howell, who introduced the boys to the rich history, traditions, and language of Cyprus. This set the tone for an exciting week of activities across the school.
Reception enjoyed a storytelling journey to Norway, discovering the classic tale of The Three Billy Goats Gruff and learning about the country’s culture. Year 2 pupils proudly showcased their colourful posters, each one celebrating a different aspect of European language and culture, while other year groups got hands-on in the kitchen, preparing fresh halloumi salads inspired by Cyprus.
Throughout the week, the boys embraced the opportunity to explore new languages and traditions, gaining a greater appreciation for the diversity of Europe. From food and storytelling to art and discussion, the celebrations brought language learning to life in an engaging and memorable way.
At Buck Prep, we are proud to nurture curiosity and cultural awareness in our pupils, helping them to see themselves as global citizens, all from the comfort of our small school in Pinner! European Day of Languages was a fantastic reminder of the joy that comes from celebrating our shared connections across the continent.
